Jackman lines up musical role

Having bemoaned to Empire Online last year that Hollywood just doesn't make enough movie musicals, Hugh Jackman is now taking steps to rectify the matter. Only managing a few notes from Gilbert and Sullivan in his latest film, Kate and Leopold, Jackman's next project should see him let rip with his vocal chords, just don't ask him for the details. "It looks like, if things commit, I'm actually going to be doing something," Jackman told us cryptically. "I can't really say until it's announced. There's something maybe coming up." With a list of musical credits to his name - Beauty and The Beast, Sunset Boulevard and Oklahoma - Jackman has given his singing voice a rest for some time but is now keen to belt out a few more tunes. "To be honest, I wasn't born a singer, I feel like I became a singer and I worked for three years on stage. By the end of the three years I was really happy not to sing a note for about 12 months but now I'm really getting the urge. There are a couple of things in the pipeline but I'm not allowed to tell you about it." Needless to say, one of these foot-tapping numbers won't be the upcoming X-Men 2. "Yeah," Jackman laughs, "Wolverine's Christmas Hits."
