Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are the stars of the film adapted from the 1960s spy show, playing special agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin respectively. They work for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement, forever on guard against the evils of T.H.R.U.S.H. Which is, as we seemingly always have to point out, an evil terrorist organisation, not something that requires a special cream from Boots.
Grant is set to play the head of British Naval Intelligence, which is ironic given how hard he’s campaigned to stop people spying on him. He joins a cast that also includes Alicia Vikander and recent recruit Elizabeth Debicki.
Ritchie co-wrote the current draft of the script with Sherlock Holmes collaborator Lionel Wigram, working from earlier versions by Scott Z. Burns.
Grant was last seen in multiple roles in Cloud Atlas and is at work on a new rom-com with Marc Lawrence, playing a once-hot screenwriter who finds love while slumming it teaching at a small college.
