Kate Hudson has signed for Four Feathers, a war drama set during the British Empire's battle for Sudan. The film, directed by Shekhar Kapur, who previously directed Elizabeth, stars Heath Ledger as a British officer who deserts the army on the eve of a major conflict. He is given white feathers, a sign of cowardice, by three of his friends and his fiance When his friends are captured, he attempts to redeem himself by infiltrating the Sudanese forces and helping them escape. Hudson, who will next be seen in Cameron Crowe's much-anticipated Almost Famous, will play Ledger's fianceé, and American Beauty star Wes Bentley will be one of his friends. Four Feathers is based on the novel by A.E.W Mason, and has already been adapted for the screen five times, most notably in 1939 by Zoltan Korda.
