Howard And Gere Hit Bosnia

That’s it people: Prague is officially over. Bosnia is the new hip, cool place to be. Well, perhaps not, but it’ll be the backdrop for a comic drama that has already attracted Terrence Howard and Richard Gere.

The Matador’s Richard Shepard plans to direct Spring Break In Bosnia based on an Esquire article by journo Scott Anderson. It details the misadventures of Anderson and fellow hacks Sebastian Junger and John Falk as they tried to nab a Bosnian war criminal. The three found themselves mistakenly identified as a CIA hit squad. Oh, the belly laughs!

Gere and Howard have been interested in the story for a while – they were attached to a version of Spring Break before at Warner Independent, but the film fell apart. Topher Grace was also circling, though there’s no word on if he’ll join this fresh, Weinstein Company-funded version.

Shepard and whoever fills that third thesping slot will kick off shooting this summer in Europe.
