It's been a long time in the making, but Sir Anthony Hopkins has finally decided to sign up for Silence of the Lambs sequel Hannibal - with or without Jodie Foster. The Oscar winner was holding out to read the final script for Hannibal after Foster complained at the gory ending to the Thomas Harris best-seller, which turns her character Clarice Starling into a cannibal.

Bur recently Hannibal director Ridley Scott confirmed that he would be making changes to the book's finale, and Hopkins has received a new script which has convinced him to reprise his spine-chilling role as Dr Hannibal Lecter. Speaking in Los Angeles at the world premiere of his new movie, the Shakespeare classic Titius, Hopkins said, "I have read the script and I will be signing up for it. Hopefully Jodie will be there as well." Foster is so busy with promoting her new movie Anna and the King she has not yet read the script, but she will be sitting down with Hopkins and Scott tomorrow, when they thrash out plans at a script meeting in LA.
