While naturally setting aside some time to croak out words of wisdom as Master Yoda in Episode III, Frank Oz is close to pencilling in another sci-fi project for the imminent future. Reuniting with In & Out screenwriter Paul Rudnick, Oz is currently in negotiations to direct a millennial remake of The Stepford Wives. Last seen calling the shots for Marlon Brando, Ed Norton and Robert De Niro in The Score, the voice behind the wizened green Jedi may take on the reincarnation of Bryan Forbes 1975 social commentary about a woman's 'place' in family life. The film sees a young couple move to a quiet suburban community where they begin to notice the local housewives taking an almost alarming amount of joy in performing household tasks and waiting on their husbands. But, by the time Stepford's latest wife realises that the town's women have been replaced by subservient cyborgs, her husband has already decided he wants to be part of the club.
