If Booksmart looks at high school girls discovering that they could have been having more fun, Animals follows two young women who have had no trouble in that regard. See the first trailer for the film.

Adapted by novelist Emma Jane Unsworth from her 2014 tome, Sophie Hyde's film explores the long hangover between adolescence and adulthood through a bittersweet tale of two friends growing up and growing apart. Would-be writer Laura (Holliday Grainger and her free-spirited bestie Tyler (Alia Shawkat) share a messy Dublin apartment and a hearty appetite for booze, Molly and one-night stands. Yet when Laura falls for Jim (Fra Fee), a charming but straitlaced classical pianist, Tyler worries that the party may soon be over...

The cast for this one also includes Dermot Murphy and Amy Molloy, and the film will have its European premiere this Friday at Sundance London and hits UK screens on 2 August.
