Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger have signed up for Appaloosa which, sadly, is a Western drama and not some sort of crazy break-dancing musical (cause Breakin 3: Electric Appaloosa we'd pay to see). What's more, Harris is also directing, from a script he's co-written with Robert Knott. Wonder if he made himself audition?

The story is based on a Robert B. Parker book about two friends hired to bring order back to a town run by a crooked rancher. Virgil Cole is made town Marshall, with Everett Hitch as his deputy - but as if it wasn't enough to be facing their renegade opponent, they also face a fickle woman (Zellweger) who threatens to come between them.

We're guessing that ol **History of Violence **sparring buddies Mortensen and Harris will play Cole and Hitch respectively - but there's no confirmation on that score yet. This is Harris' second outing as director after Pollock, which landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, so he might be hoping for another crack at the little gold fella. With shooting starting on October 1, we should find out by the end of next year.
