There’s more good news from the world of Sensible Movie Decisions. Guillermo Del Toro told the crowd at his Comic-Con panel for Pan’s Labyrinth that he was still searching for a distributor to make Hellboy 2 after original producers Revolution Studios closed up shop before green-lighting the sequel.

But now fans of Big Red can pet a kitten and snack on a Baby Ruth choc bar in celebration because he’s found a home for Hellboy and co. Universal has picked up the rights to make and distribute the movie. The studio has found a summer 2008 slot for the film.

Ron Perlman will return to the title role, and Selma Blair is on board as fire-starting Hell-crush Liz Sherman. Plus, with the old gang getting back together, it’s a given that Doug Jones will once more be filling Abe Sapien’s mutant fish-creature body.

"There are few properties which offer this unique blend of action, humour and character-based spectacle," boasted delighted Universal chairman Marc Shmuger to Variety. And so say all of us.
