Many directors have tackled Jesus. The likes of Martin Scorsese, Norman Jewison and Mel Gibson have all focused on some aspect of his life. And all have had beards.

But now the distinctly beard-free Catherine Hardwicke, who last helmed Lords Of Dogtown, is in talks to direct New Line’s Nativity project, which focuses more on the Virgin Mary and her story leading up to the birth of Christ.
