Here's an exciting prospect: Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro collaborating with JJ Abrams on a new film. According to Collider, it'll be called Zanbato and feature a kick-ass female lead.

While the site's sources had mentioned the main character being a ninja, del Toro himself got on Twitter to debunk that idea, while confirming that it had been in development for six years, hidden securely behind Abrams' typical curtain of silence on future films. All that is really known is that it'l be about a young woman with superior fighting skills.

Because del Toro always has a lot of projects in development at any one time, there's no sign yet on whether he'll make this one next (and he's concurrently actively preparing his Pinocchio project for Netflix). The director is also producing Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (which has yet to announce a UK release) and is part of the team shepherding Amazon's Carnival Row series.

Abrams, meanwhile, is in post-production on Star Wars: Episode IX, which will launch on 19 December.
