There's nothing quite like a Thanksgiving weekend to make Hollywood executives roll up their sleeves and get into a box office fray, and this weekend was no exception. While we in the UK were happily going about our ordinary business, cinemagoers across America were giving thanks for the great selection of movies on offer for their holiday weekend and pouring money into the studio coffers. This year's winner was Jim Carrey, whose portrayal of The Grinch stole the hearts of the America public. The Grinch took another $52.4 million over the Thanksgiving weekend - a record second only to last year's Toy Story 2 which raked in $80 million. Coming up second place in the weekend's battle was the much-anticipated second movie from M Night Shyamalan - Unbreakable. The thriller took in a very respectable $31.5 million, while third place went to Disney's 102 Dalmatians with $20.4 million.
