Ah, web-based serial killers. How poorly you’ve been portrayed on the big screen. Feardotcom? Rubbish! You’ve Got Mail? Actually not about a serial slaughterer – but it might’ve improved the final movie.

Hart's War director Gregory Hoblit is hoping to change all that with Untraceable. The plot follows a ‘net-savvy serial killer with a website that broadcasts his crimes. Fortunately for the nubile victims, the FBI’s Internet Crimes division are on the case. When they’re not busy trying to hunt down 13-year-olds putting up unofficial Eragon websites, that is.

Allison Burnett has written the latest draft of the script, which is based on Streaming Evil, a spec by writers Robert Fyvolent and Mark R Brinker. Once he has his cast in place, Hoblit will start shooting next February in Oregon.
