If you were wondering what Paul Greengrass’ work would look like in 3D, you may have to keep wondering a little longer. He’s dropped out of the running to direct the remake of **Fantastic Voyage **for James Cameron and 20th Century Fox.

According to Deadline, he has decided to bail before signing any sort of document to make the tale of miniaturised scientists injected into a man’s body to sort out a chronic medical problem.

And while Cameron and fellow producer Jon Landau were enthused to tempt the man who made the last two Bourne movies and Green Zone into their 3D sci-fi lair, they’re now in the process of sending Shane Salerno’s script to other big name directors in the hopes of hooking someone to get the project moving.

Don’t cry for Greengrass, though – he’s apparently focusing all his energy on locking down a deal to make a new, stylised adaptation of Treasure Island for Warner Bros. and Sherlock Holmes producer, Lionel Wigram. It’s a ways off being a reality though: the various parties are still trying to agree on a scriptwriter to bash out the new take.

That said, if you’re still wondering what Greengrass’ work would look like in 3D, you might get your chance, since we bet Warners will be nudging him to shoot the Island in 3D anyway…
