Goyer To Direct Vampire

It may not be a huge shock to find that, despite writing all three Blade films (and directing the atrocious Blade: Trinity), David Goyer has unfinished business with bloodsuckers.

For the writer/director has just signed on to adapt a new novel by Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator, Mike Mignola, called Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier And The Vampire. (We know which title is going to stick with the multiplex crowd.)

The story tells of a WWI soldier called Lord Henry Baltimore, who is bitten on the battlefield by a vampire bat, and infected with a plague that destroys his family. Thirsting for revenge, Baltimore forms a team to hunt down and kill the unspeakably evil The Red King.

Sounds pretty damned cool. Goyer will direct the movie for New Regency after he finishes work on Magneto, the X-Men prequel which will shoot pre-strike.
