John Williams, one of the producers behind CG smashes Shrek and Shrek 2 – not to mention this year’s Brit-based CG pigeon adventure Valiant – is overseeing Gnomes!, a freshly acquired tale of a boy who finds the little bearded statue men in his back garden are actually alive. Scripted by newcomers Micah Herman and Kyle Newman – who are also down to direct – it’s described as a “slam-dunk franchise film,” by Williams, although it’s not been decided yet whether it’ll be a full-on CG feature, or mix live-action with CG a la Cats & Dogs.
