He's on for Seth McFarlane's comedy

Giovanni Ribisi Joins Ted

He was last seen being smug, bureaucratic and looking to drive the Na’vi from their home in Avatar, but it looks like Giovanni Ribisi is switching his obsession to a different creature, signing on to co-star in Seth McFarlane’s directorial debut Ted.

Mark Wahlberg is starring as a man who, when he was a youngster, made a heartfelt wish for his favourite teddy to come to life and be his bestest chum for life. While he was delighted at the time that his dream came true, he’s now stuck as a grown up being followed around by the annoying, needy, rude beastie (which McFarlane will voice), a situation that is crippling his chances with the woman he likes (Mila Kunis).

Ribisi will be Donny, a man obsessed with the Ted creature. McFarlane, usually to be found overseeing and providing voices for Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show, has written the script with Guy staff members Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. We’re just hoping it won’t be one long set of pop culture call-backs or extended sequences of Ted battling an enraged, anthropomorphic chicken. Prove us wrong, Seth!

Meanwhile, Ribisi is already hard at work, shooting Contraband alongside future Ted collaborator Mark Wahlberg and also has Waco and The Rum Diaries waiting in the wings to be released.
