Ginnifer Goodwin, usually to be found co-starring on US cable show Big Love, has nabbed the lead in Alcon Entertainment's new romantic comedy Something Borrowed.

With a script based on Emily Griffin's novel, she'll play a New York-based lawyer who falls for her best friend's fiance just as she turns 30. Romantic - and, one must surely assume, comedic - complications occur.

Yup, no matter how many times studios seem to pump out identikit romantic comedies, they find an audience and are encouraged to keep making these things. And with a ready supply of punily-titled books to draw from, it's not something that's going to die out any time soon.

The Girl Next Door's Luke Greenfield aims to kick off making this one later in the year.
