"Things are not always as they appear." But sometimes they are, because Ghost Stories appears to be really bloody spooky. The British supernatural portmanteau horror stars Andy Nyman, Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther, Paul Whitehouse and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, and the latest trailer has just crept up behind you.

Nyman and The League Of Gentlemen's Jeremy Dyson are responsible for this, adapting their Olivier-nominated play (which has caused audiences from London, Sydney, Moscow and elsewhere to sleep with the light on). The set-up is a supernaturally sceptical Professor's receipt of a letter from beyond the grave, which sets him on a journey to meet three individuals with terrifying tales to tell.

Shooting took place in Yorkshire last year, and Freeman says that "Andy and Jeremy’s script is funny, scary and extremely surprising. And they have amazing taste in actors." Ghost Stories starts haunting UK cinemas from 13 April - which is a Friday, natch.
