A new ensemble sketch comedy

Getting Sketchy

In its ongoing search for new variations on the teenage sex comedy, it looks like Hollywood might be taking a leaf from the book of Monty Python, Kids In The Hall and stop-motion sketch madness Robot Chicken.

Parental Guidance Suggested is a sketch comedy film from writer-directors Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson - you’ll know them from their work on Not Another Teen Movie and the fact that they’re also co-writing the Revenge Of The Nerds remake.

It’s a big project – the likes of Frankie Muniz, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard, MTV’s Andy Milonakis and Punk’d’s Ryan Pinkston are part of the sprawling ensemble cast, which will involves more than 70 speaking parts across the various segments.

And there’s even more talent behind the camera, as Saturday Night Live’s current kings of comedy Andy Samberg and Will Forte are among the five writers who have pitched in scenes which will include Muniz losing his virginity to his girlfriend only to discover that she wants to be a little more… er… experimental (say, farm animals and midgets) and Pinkston falling for the cutest girl in class who may not be what he expects.

"When I first read the script, I quoted sketches from it all the time. It drove my wife crazy," said producer Richard Suckle, who surely has the perfect name to be involved with the film, and has gathered the indie financing for it. "It's written by the top comedy sketch writers in the country, and I think it will work because this generation has yet to have their own Kentucky Fried Movie.”
