The first trailer has arrived for indie period drama/thriller Get Low, which is loosely based on the true story of a man who decided to organise his own funeral, and hold it before he shuffled off the mortal coil. And yes, that's a bit forward.

The focus of the film is Robert Duvall's Felix "Bush" Breazeale, who in 1938 decided to schedule his going-away party early while he was still alive so he could enjoy the experience. A massive crowd turned out on the day, and he became something of a celebrity as a result, living five more years after his send off.

Bill Murray and Lucas Black are the funeral home directors charged with getting everything organised – not as easy a job as they might have thought, since Felix was something of a hermit with a bad reputation around town and few are initially up for the idea.

Take a look at the trailer for yourself, and then debate the merits of holding your funeral before you die; at least you get to enjoy the booze, especially since you’re usually paying for it.

The film doesn't have a UK release date set yet, but US readers will be able to catch it on July 30.
