About three years ago we brought you news that one of Viz magazine's more famous exports, The Fat Slags, were to make their big screen debut. However, after thirty-six months of nothing, we all suspected that good taste had prevailed and the whole project had been shelved. That's not the case unfortunately and, while the pair have been lying low for a while, they're still coming and have dragged Geri Halliwell along for the ride. Directed by Red Dwarf veteran and Kevin and Perry Go Large helmer, Ed Bye, the film will star Fiona Allen (ex-Corrie) and Sophie Thompson (more regularly seen wearing period costume in the likes of Gosford Park and Nicholas Nickleby) as the corpulent couple who scour the land for unwitting men to force themselves upon. Geri has signed on for a minor supporting role but whether her character will be likewise obese or sexually indiscriminate remains to be seen.
