If your thirst for seeing Gerard Butler sword-swashing in skimpy armour was unsatisfied by 300 then Gods Of Egypt could well fill that gap. Alex Proyas’ upcoming fantasy actioner has a new trailer to share. Apply directly to your eyeballs below.

Like Stargate, only with more deities and less Kurt Russell, Gods Of Egypt sees the Dark City man imagining a world in which the Egyptian god of darkness Set (Butler) takes over the throne and brings misery and other nastinesses to all and sundry. Good news, though. A mortal hero, a thief called Bek (Brenton Thwaites), allies with the Egyptian god Horus (Nikolai Coster-Waldau) in a mission to save the world and to rescue his love.

But with a quest to retrieve magic objects and pass tests of courage and sacrifice, can they defeat Set’s dreadful henchmen and army of creatures? Judging by this trailer, not without much chopping, slashing and jumping over things.

With Geoffrey Rush, Chadwick Boseman and Rufus Sewell also aboard, Gods Of Egypt gets its UK release this summer.
