Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final negotiations to replace Kate Bosworth as the star of indie drama, Veronika Decides To Die.
Based on the novel by Paulo Coelho, the film will tell the tale of the titular Veronika, a would-be suicide who awakes to find that she has irreparably damaged her heart. With only a few days left to live, Veronika rediscovers her will to live.
It’s probably fair to say that Gellar has never fulfilled her promise as an actress post-Buffy, getting caught up in a series of middling horrors or Scooby-Doo flicks. Perhaps this movie will push her in the right direction.
Larry Gross and Roberta Hanley wrote the script; British director Emily Young will call the shots.
