The clamour from outside the studio walls might not have been as high as inside it but Paramount is pushing ahead with a third G.I. Joe film, hoping to build on the box-office success of the first two. D.J. Caruso is confirmed as directing, and now** Section 6** writer Aaron Berg is aboard to re-write the script{ =nofollow}.

Evan Daugherty was the last person to take a crack at the script, which back in 2013 was said to be returning some characters from the first movie to rejoin the ranks alongside the likes of Dwayne Johnson’s Roadblock. There are no details on the direction that Caruso and Berg plan to take the story in The Hollywood Reporter’s word on the film.

Berg landed on the Hollywood radar thanks to his buzzed-about, bidding-war-sparking script about the early days of MI6. A lawsuit from MGM and the Bond team worried about it encroaching on their super spy followed, which has since been resolved. **Section 6 **is currently in development with Jack O’Connell attached to star and, potentially, Joe Cornish directing.
