In a conspiracy to rival The X-Files, news has emerged that the video footage of Winona Ryder 'stealing' items from a store in Beverly Hills should, in fact, prove she's innocent. Those who have seen the tape have stated that it in no way corroborates claims that she cut the security tags from items and stuffed them in her bag, as was claimed when the actress was arrested on charges of theft, burglary, vandalism and possession of a controlled substance in December last year. "Contrary to the public perception, this tape exonerates her," her lawyer told the LA Times. Due to be presented at a preliminary hearing tomorrow, the tape apparently shows Ryder walking around Saks Fifth Avenue for an hour and a half, talking to shop assistants and trying on clothes. However no evidence of the heinous crime can be found, casting doubt on security personnel's claims that footage had captured the star removing security tags with scissors and subsequently stealing them. Ryder is currently out on $20,000 bail and could face more than three years imprisonment if convicted of all charges.
