Mykelti Williamson, best known as Forrest Gump's shrimp-loving chum Bubba, is on trial for attempted manslaughter in Los Angeles. Back in Janury, the actor became embroiled in an argument with his ex-wife's male friend and stabbed him with a knife. Williamson's ex-wife, Cheryl Chisholm, testified that he became angry over arrangements to collect their daughter, came to her house and started a fight with her friend, Leroy Edwards. Edwards said that Williamson chased him out of the house, jumped astride him and cut him on the hand and abdomen. Williamson has released a statement saying, "This has all been a big misunderstanding, and I will be vindicated." The manslaughter charge was brought about after a judge found there was insufficient evidence for the original charge of attempted murder.
