We might be waiting a little longer than planned for her MCU debut, but Florence Pugh isn't just hanging around for that – she's jumping at some new movies, and is now attached to sci-fi courtroom drama Dolly.

Inspired by Elizabeth Bear's eponymous short story, the film has The Shape Of Water's Vanessa Taylor and Hotel Artemis' Drew Pearce writing the adaptation. Dolly opens as a robotic “companion doll” kills its owner and then shocks the world by claiming that she is not guilty and asking for a lawyer.

It sounds like the sort of subject that Netflix and Black Mirror might tackle, but following a bidding war, Apple Studios has emerged triumphant, which means the eventual movie will debut on Apple's TV+ service. First, though, Pearce and Taylor have to actually write the script, and the film needs a director.

As mentioned, Pugh has Black Widow due on 7 May 2021 (cinema closures permitting – there remains a chance it could debut on Disney+ if Marvel and the Mouse House don't instead opt to shift it again) and recently locked in a deal for novel adaptation The Maid.
