The 15:17 To Paris

In recent years, Clint Eastwood has made a batch of movies about real-life heroes. And he's continuing that trend with The 15:17 To Paris, which has put a trailer online.

The film will chart the coming-of-age story and a crucial life moment for three American men, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone. They were traveling between Brussels and Paris when an ISIS terrorist boarded. Armed with an AK-47 and loaded up with ammo, he planned to kill as many people as possible, but the three – Stone was trained in martial arts and an airman in the US Air Force, while Skarlatos was part of the Oregon National Guard – charged the man and overpowered him.

Unusually for a film like this, the three main figures will be playing themselves (at least for the terrorism scenes), backed up by a cast that also includes Jenna Fischer and Judy Greer. We'll be interested to see how it worked out, particularly since the trailer is at pains not to feature the central performances all that much, at least in terms of dialogue. And there's a danger that it could all seem like a hoo-ra piece of marketing for the military if the right tone isn't struck.

Eastwood's latest will be out on 9 February.
