Danny McBride has, along with regular collaborators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, produced some entertaining and scathing TV comedies. He's back with his latest, The Righteous Gemstones, which has its first teaser online.
McBride here created the show, directs several episodes and stars alongside Adam Devine, John Goodman and Edi Patterson in the story of the world famous Gemstones televangelist family, known for a long tradition of deviance, greed... and occasionally, charitable work.
Goodman is patriarch Eli, with McBride and Levine as his sons, Jesse and Kelvin, while Patterson plays his daughter, Judy. Also along for the madness are Cassidy Freeman as Jesse's wife, Amber, Tony Cavalero as former Satanist Keefe Chambers, who was saved by the family is now their loyal service and Tim Baltz as BJ, Judy's fiancé, who is struggling to fit in with the clan.
The show arrives on HBO in the States in August, and should be popping up on Sky in the UK around the same time. Praise be!
