Team Empire's love for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson can no longer be hidden. Not only did we all go a bit nuts for his astonishing performance in Fast Five (or whatever it's called in this neck of the woods) but we model our lives around his endlessly macho Twitter feed* and we're actually rather excited to see him in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation or, as we like to think of it, G.I. Joe: How Much Punctuation Can We Fit Into One Title? And now here's our first look at His Rockness as Roadblock.
Is this news? Well, if not it's news-adjacent at least. Roadblock - real name Marvin F. Hinton in Joe-world - is a heavy machine gunner who also dabbles in cookery. Yes! We will at least see what The Rock is cooking, and if they can just figure out this 4D thing, we may be able to smell it as well.
The film also stars Channing Tatum as Duke himself, with Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Joseph Mazzello, Arnold Vosloo, DJ Cotrona, Jonathan Pryce, Elodie Yung, Walter Goggins and RZA, with Bruce Willis in talks to join them and John M Chu directing. Team Bring It will be delivering it to our screens in June 2012 - if the screens of this country are big enough to contain His Rockness by then.
*To the extent that we read out his tweets to motivate each other every day. E.g. "Phil, remember to smile as you're putting boots to asses today."; "But I'm wearing brogues!"
