After a few years in the development wilderness and a potential new lease on life with Clint Eastwood, the attempt to make yet another version of A Star Is Born took a surprising step forward when Bradley Cooper jumped aboard to direct and co-star. The first image of Cooper and Lady Gaga is now online and you can find it above.
Gaga, who looks very different here to her usual performance style, will be acting in the film under her real name, Stefani Germanotta, despite having used the Gaga alias while acting in TV shows such as American Horror Story.
Cooper and Germanotta were at music festival Coachella in California over the weekend, shooting scenes for the movie, which follows the story of Jackson Maine (Cooper), a country music star who is on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally (Germanotta). As the two begin a passionate love affair, Jack coaxes Ally into the spotlight, catapulting her to stardom. But as Ally’s career quickly eclipses his own, Jack finds it increasingly hard to handle his fading glory. Germanotta has composed and will be performing original songs in the film, which will also feature Sam Elliott and Andrew Dice Clay.
A Star Is Born should be out next year.
