The wider world got its first look at Margot Robbie playing a live-action version of iconic doll Barbie in the new movie based on the toy line back in April. Thanks to Warner Bros.' twitter feed, we can now see what Ryan Gosling looks like as Ken. And it's quite... something.
Boasting washboard abs that don't seem quite in keeping with his plastic inspiration, but sporting blond locks and some nifty personalized underoos, this is a version of Ken we're not sure anyone was expecting.
But then, the movie, directed by Greta Gerwig from a script she wrote with Noah Baumbach, is still wrapped in mystery like a doll in a cardboard box. The cast includes America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera and more, and while there is no official confirmation, it appears that various versions of Ken and Barbie show up in the film, played by different people.
This is one we're definitely ready to see more from, just to get an idea of how wacky it could be. Yet with the movie still shooting and the release date set for 21 July next year, we'll have to wait.
