It might just be his trademark terrifying rictus grin, but you’ve got to love how delighted Judge Death looks in the first poster for Adi Shankar’s unofficial, web-based Dredd spin-off, which now has imagery and a title – Superfiendwith the new pictures arriving courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

You might recall that earlier this month, the first word broke about Dredd producer Shankar’s plans to help sate fans’ desire for more action set in and around Mega-City One using his own unofficial “Bootleg” short film universe{ =nofollow}, which has spawned tales for both Thomas Jane’s take on The Punisher and one about Spider-Man villain Eddie Brock.

In Dredd’s case, he’s expanded his ambitions, developing an animated web series about Judge Death, one of the most notorious, and notoriously creepy baddies from 2000AD. Death and his terrifying accomplices lurk into Dredd’s world from a parallel dimension, holding the quaint belief that all life is a crime and the appropriate punishment is a variety of torments and murder. So, you know, fun times for all...

Superfiend will be hitting the ‘net on October 27, with trailers due this week. For more imagery, head to EW’s site.
