The Favourite Rules At The British Independent Film Awards

In a move that would no doubt please Olivia Colman's Queen Anne, The Favourite was crowned the main winner at this year's British Independent Film Awards.

Colman took home a deserved Best Actress award for Yorgos Lanthimos' film, which also won British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz and Best Screenplay for Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara. That's on top of five craft awards it earned before the night itself.

Joe Cole won Best Actor for A Prayer Before Dawn, while Alfonso Cuaron's Roma scored Best International Independent Film.

Most Promising Newcomer: Jessie Buckley, Beast
