It's been rumoured for a while now, but the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise – codenamed Fast Five – is now hitting top speed.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and director Justin Lin have all signed on the dotted line to return to the series that earned Universal more than $350 million worldwide in 2009. With **Fast & Furious **becoming the studio's top earner of the year, it was only natural that it would want everyone back for another run through the streets.

Chris Morgan, who penned the last two entries, is back for more and will (HUGE SPOILER ALERT) write a story that follows Diesel and Walker on the run from lawmen. So pretty much as usual. Er, hang on, forget the spoiler alert, then.

All being well, the film should shoot later this year for a 2011 release. If it keeps Vin Diesel from making another Riddick film for a little longer, we're happy.
