Dakota and Elle Fanning have withdrawn from Nick Cassavetes' My Sister's Keeper, a film about a young girl who sues for legal separation from her parents because they only conceived her so that she could prolong the life of her sick sister. The roles will now be taken by Abigail Breslin (as the younger sister) and Sofia Vassilieva (as the elder).

Variety reports that Dakota decided she couldn't do the film because it would require her to shave her head. Now, this shearing would probably be because she's playing a sick child, but we're going to choose to believe it's because everything goes a bit GI Jane in the second half and she starts blowing shit up and can't have lengthy tresses obscuring her vision. Regrettably, this probably won't happen.

The film, which starts shooting in March, also stars Cameron Diaz as the mother of girls, Alec Baldwin as the family's lawyer and John Cusack in an unspecified role.
