Well, they did say it would live forever. Variety announced today that Fame, that paeon to legwarmers and excessively jazz-handsy kids, is to be remade. 23-year-old choreographer Kevin Tanchereon (who worked on The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search For The Next Doll, so you know he's good) will direct from a script by Allison Burnett.

As with Alan Parker's 1980 original, the film will follow a group of New York kids at a hoyty-toyty performing art school as they approach graduation.

This film is not to be confused with Step Up, Step Up 2: The Streets, Honey, Stomp The Yard, Save The Last Dance or any other Fame-esque rip-offs of recent years.
