Review of the year Ex Machina

Awards weren’t just handed out across the pond this weekend. Sunday evening saw the Moet British Independent Film Awards take place in London, and one of the biggest winners for the night was Alex Garland’s sci-fi thriller Ex Machina.

The movie was the victor in the Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay categories, and Outstanding Achievement In Craft went to visual effects supervisor Andrew Whitehurst.

In acting, Tom hardy took Best Actor for Legend, while Saoirse Ronan won for Brooklyn. Best Supporting Actress was The Lobster’s Olivia Colman, while Best Supporting Actor went to Brendan Gleeson for Suffragette, with the award collected by his son, Domhnall who was up for the same trophy.
