Though we realise he’s just an actor who delivers lines, there’s a tiny part of our collective brain that wants Peter Capaldi to turn into Malcolm Tucker when he steps behind the camera to direct. But there’s slim chance of Ewan McGregor and Kate Hudson being told “Christ on a bendy bus son, don't be such a fucking faff arse” when they show up to work on Capaldi’s next gig,** Born To Be King**.

Capaldi wrote the script, which springs from a similar Prince And The Pauper root as movies like Dave. The mistaken-identity comedy finds an extra (McGregor) who bears an uncanny resemblance to a huge, arrogant movie star.

The star’s girlfriend (the role Hudson is circling) is herself a big name, but so sick of his behaviour that she begins to fall for the extra. Cue comedy chaos!

Indomina Releasing is pimping this one out at the AFM in November and, assuming he gets his cast, Capaldi will be cranking the camera this January at Pinewood.

McGregor will next show up in Tsunami drama The Impossible (due January 2) and the freshly renamed Jack The Giant Slayer, which hits on March 22. Hudson was last seen in **Something Borrowed **and is set to work on action thriller Everly. She’s also providing a voice for DreamWorks Animation’s Me And My Shadow, which won’t be out until March 2014.
