Now that he’s finished work on his real-life art drama Big Eyes, Tim Burton is heading back into the realm of the fantastical, eyeing a February start date for Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. And he’s looking to reunite with one of his Dark Shadows cast for the film – no, not Johnny Depp... Eva Green.

Based on Ransom Riggs’ novel, which Chernin Entertainment bought for 20th Century Fox back in 2011, the story follows 16 year-old Jacob, who has grown up hearing tales of the titular orphanage’s odd residents from his grandfather. They included a girl who always floated slightly above the ground, another who could safely hold fire in her hands and twins who had a psychic connection.

When granddad suddenly dies, leaving behind a message for his grandson, Jacob makes the trip to the ancestral home on a strange island off the coast of Wales. There he also finds the remains of Miss Peregrine’s place and discovers that some of those who lived there might not have left. And that they were confined because they posed a real danger...

Green, assuming she makes a deal, will play the title character, a woman who acts as a guardian to the orphans. She’ll next be seen in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, which arrives here on August 22, and will be back on small screens next year for the second season of Penny Dreadful. Burton’s Big Eyes hits US cinemas on December 25, but has yet to lock in a UK date.
