E.T. Hits Blu-Ray In November

It’s almost hard to believe it’s 30 years since E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial had many of us blubbering away in cinemas and wishing that we too had a special alien friend with a magic finger (that sounds much less wholesome when we write it down). But ‘tis true! And instead of feeling old and creaky, we’re heartened to learn that there will be a Blu-ray version in shops this October for the US and on November 12 in the UK.

From the looks of it, this latest release will be enough to dry the tears shed in 2002 when the movie arrived with digital tinkering, including the replacement of police officers’ guns with walkie-talkies, because the original 1982 cut will be featured, albeit in lovingly remastered style.

Also on board will be a couple of new features, including The E.T. Journals, which promise a look behind the scenes of the movie via footage shot by cinematographer John Toll and a fresh interview with a Mr Steven Spielberg, who we’re led to believe had something to do with the movie as well. Craft service, maybe?
