Man On Wire director James Marsh has been steadily building the cast he needs to bring Stephen Hawking tale The Theory Of Everything to the screen. He already has Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones as the physicist and his first wife, and they’re now being joined by Emily Watson and David Thewlis.

Based on a script by Anthony McCarten. Theory will follow Hawking’s early life, from his first studies to his marriage to Jane after meeting at Cambridge. When his world was rocked with the first diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, they pledged to stay together, though Hawking eventually left Jane for his nurse, Elaine Mason, whom he married in 1995. After divorcing Elaine in 2006, he became close friends with Jane once more.

There’s no word on exactly who the two newcomers will be playing, while Redmayne is Hawking and Jones will be Jane. The cast also now includes Charlie Cox, Simon McBurney, Maxine Peake and Harry Lloyd. Marsh is cranking the cameras right now for Working Title.

Watson was last seen on the big screen in Anna Karenin****a and has Some Girl(s), Belle and The Book Thief set to arrive in the near future. Thewlis will crop up in Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem and Julian Assange pic The Fifth Estate, set to open here this weekend.
