Despite being busy finishing the next Avengers film, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have found time to help other filmmakers flourish via their AGBO company. The latest enjoying a boost is first-time director Natalie Erika James, who has Emily Mortimer, Bella Heathcote and Robyn Nevin on to star in Relic.

The film, written by James and Christian White (the former no relation to the writer of this news story, though he's not going to correct anyone who assumes it), focuses on three generations of women – daughter, mother and grandmother – haunted by a manifestation of aged dementia that takes over their family home. The plot was inspired with James’ experience with Alzheimer’s disease within her own family. "At its core, it explores the fear and heartbreak of dementia and aging through a horror lens," she tells Deadline.

With Jake Gyllenhaal, Riva Marker, Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw also among the producers, James is scheduled to kick off filming next week in Victoria, Australia.
