We’re treating this one as something drifting in the bubbling lava flow of rumour until more official confirmation arrives, but it appears that Sucker Punch**’s Emily Browning has joined the cast of Paul WS Anderson’s Pompeii.

Anderson is making the historical film during one of his occasional breaks from squeezing wife Mila Jovovich into leather costumes and shooting zombies for the **Resident Evil **franchise.

Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington is already aboard to play Milo, a slave in Pompeii circa 79AD who falls for his master’s daughter. Hhe’s sold to another owner, only to struggle back to the city when the nearby Mount Vesuvius erupts, looking to rescue the woman he loves and his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the arena.

With a script from Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes, Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler, Pompeii sounds closer to a blend of Gladiator and (hopefully less of) Anderson’s own Three Musketeers than Alice’s adventures in zombieland. He’s set to start shooting in April for a 2014 release date.
