A Quiet Place

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt haven't worked together – in front of the camera, at least, as they have shared credits on animated pic Animal Crackers – on a movie before, but they've teamed up for mysterious thriller A Quiet Place, which Krasinski co-wrote and directed. The first trailer has emerged online and it wants you to stay silent....

The pair hasn't said much about the film, which boasts a script co-written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and this first glimpse does an effective job of setting up the concept and then getting out of there before revealing too much.

Here's what we can glean so far: a couple (Blunt and Krasinski) are living (well, surviving might be a more apt description) with their kids in a remote cabin in the woods after what we can only assume is some terrible incident. Regardless of what has actually happened, the situation is that they have to stay silent, lest some terrifying creatures hunt them down.

Which translates to sign language conversations and playing games that require little noise. Everyone keeps to that, until a gas lantern is knocked over and... well, you'll see.

We're hoping they don't let much more than this escape before the movie arrives, which should be in May next year. Ssh!
