If you follow Raid writer/director Gareth Evans on Twitter, you’ll know he’s been spending the last few months preparing to shoot the sequel to his hard-hitting (literally) breakout action thriller. Now he’s at work on **The Raid 2 **(or The Raid 2: Berandal, as it’s known in Indonesia) and some early imagery of the film, Evans and his star Iko Uwais, is online. Check out the gallery below via Collider.

So what can we expect from the sequel? Well, more bone-splitting, head-smashing and knee-crunching action to be sure, all wrapped in a plot that picks up right where the first film ends.

This time around, Uwais’ Rama goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

“To all our fans thank you so much for your support. We can’t wait to come back and show you what we have been working on,” says Evans in a press release. “We’ll be there in 2014 with a film bigger, better and bloodier! Wish us luck.” That’s surely the only bad thing here: we’ll have to wait until next year to see it. Still, we can be patient. Are you finished yet, Gareth? Now?

Now?

...How about now?
