In addition to his film career, which shows no sign of abating, and his active Twitter feed, Dwayne Johnson has recently been expanding his horizons to the small screen. He’s worked on an HBO pilot for a half-hour dramedy series called Ballers, and the network has decided to order a series.
Ballers comes from Johnson's **Pain & Gain buddy Mark Wahlberg (no stranger to working with the channel after Entourage) and Steve Levinson, who happens to be manager to one M. Wahlberg. Peter Berg, who just directed Wahlberg in Lone **Survivor, handled the megaphone chores for the pilot.

The show follows a group of former and current American football players and sees Johnson playing a retired athlete, with other characters in the show including a highly spiritual pro athlete, a financial adviser, a sports agent, an ESPN sideline reporter and the ex-wife of a pro football player.
Of course, it’s not Johnson’s first TV show: he’s already created one reality show called The Hero for US network TNT and has been shooting a new one called Wake Up Call. On the big screen, he has Hercules set to arrive on August 8, with Fast & Furious 7 put back to 2015 and disaster adventure San Andreas set to shoot this year.
