If you thought the new Godzilla script would be locked and loaded after Legendary Pictures showed a sizzle reel at Comic-Con this year, you would be wrong. Director Gareth Edwards and his crew shot that as an independent test, and the script, which has already been through the paws of David Callahan, Max Borenstein and David Goyer, is getting a quick polish courtesy of Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce.

The man who has been helping Shane Black put words in Tony Stark’s gob is very much in demand at the moment. He was hired by Warners to work on the script for a third **Sherlock Holmes adventure (spurred, we have no doubt by his working relationship with Robert Downey Jr.) and has his hand in several other developing screenplays.

And the Godzilla gig is just a four-week pass, apparently not designed at fixing any monster-sized holes in the plot but instead ageing the characters up a little to fit actors that the studio is targeting. Yes, expect Judi Dench Vs Gojira on May 16, 2014...
