If you’re into period dramas, 2019 will see the release of a film that’s basically the Infinity War of the genre – the Downton Abbey movie. Which, by the looks of things, seems to just be called Downton Abbey. The first teaser has arrived, showing the return of the titular stately home, and… well, not much else – this is all about atmosphere for now. Watch it here:

What the trailer does reveal is which characters are returning, listing those instead of the names of the actors. Expect to see this lot on the big screen: Lord Grantham and Lady Grantham, Lady Mary Talbot, Lady Hexham, The Dowager Lady Grantham, Tom Branston, Mr. Barrow, Mr. Bates, Mrs. Patmore, Daisy Mason, Lady Merton, Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Bates, Mr. Molesley, and Miss Baxter.

Downton Abbey ran on ITV for six series between 2010 and 2015, becoming a huge ratings hit and bringing the likes of Dan Stevens, Lily James, and Jessica Brown Findlay to the screen. The film is written by series creator Julian Fellowes, and is currently set for UK release on 13 September 2019.
